Morning Lifting: There will be NO morning lifting the week of February 13-17.

Garret Albers is a high school Social Studies teacher at Benton Community. He is also an assistant football coach, 7th grade basketball coach, and assistant golf coach. In his free time he enjoys many hobbies, but his favorite is to shout random fun facts at strangers and friends. He would like you to know that President Harry S Truman’s middle name is only the initial S. He also wants everyone to know that the origin of Daylight Savings Time is due to an attempt by the US to save resources during WWI, and has nothing to do with farmers. In reality, it helped consumer oriented business and hobbies (such as Mr. Albers’ favorite hobby: golf) spur growth as Americans after the war had more leisure time during daylight hours. That consumer centered growth continued throughout the roaring 20s, when urban economic areas experienced a boom while rural farming communities struggled.
*Mr. Albers had 4000 words typed up on the American economic developments since 1918, but we figured it would be better to just cut him off here and save everybody time.

From Representative Thomas Gerhold:
The Capitol was treated to a huge wave of blue jacketed young people on Tuesday, the Future Farmers of America chapters from across the state, and it’s fantastic to see so many bright futures in the FFA! When I was an FFA member, most were guys and from a farm. Now, it seems the makeup has almost flipped to majority being female and not from a farm. It’s great to see all of them involved.

This is my 5th year teaching 3 year old preschool and I grow more in love with it every year!! My husband and I live in Blairstown and have 3 kids. Our daughters, Mallory and Jaden, are in college and our son, Jordan is a Sr. at Benton. My life outside of school has slowed down considerably with only having one child in extracurricular activities! I am hoping that having 3 kids out on their own my husband and I will find the time to get back into golfing, traveling, and finding that new balance in our lives!! I'm looking forward to it!!

Benton Community and Central Lutheran will be on a 2 hour delay tomorrow morning, Friday, February 3rd. No morning activities or weight room.

Winter Safe Driving Tip: Please defrost or scrape your entire windshield before driving. Not doing so could get you a ticket of $135!

My name is Jena Heishman and I teach first grade at Atkins Elementary. This is my 11th year teaching. My husband and I were born and raised here and now I am proud to say my three kids also attend Benton Community. I enjoy spending time with family and supporting my kids in all of their hobbies and activities!
