Girls Golf: There will be a girls golf meeting for all girls grades 7-11 interested in playing golf next year on Wednesday, May 24th, in Mr. Dirks' room during 5th block. If you can't attend the meeting, please see Mr. Dirks beforehand.
Student Council Meeting: Tomorrow, May 24th, from 11:10 -11:50, there will be a student council meeting in Mrs. Neve's room. Representatives attending the meeting should communicate with their teachers ahead of time to determine what work needs to be made up. This also applies to any individual who would like to attend the meeting as a walk-on participant.
I’m completing my 18th year of teaching MS/HS Special Education. My husband is a Benton Graduate and our 2 children also attend Benton. We enjoy our animals and taking them to shows over the weekends. And we also enjoy camping.

Benton had 14 hits. Lane Kaestner was 2 for 3 with one RBI. Ryan Finn was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Evan Daugherty, Easton Patterson, and Colby Lennie had two RBIs each. Stealing one base each were Jordan Thys and Patterson. The team had one errors. Lane Kaestner threw for five innings, allowed five hits and one earned run, walked one and had one sacrifice.

Hello, my name is Jessica Bolar and I have been teaching Kindergarten at Benton for the past two years. Benton community has welcomed me with open arms and I have loved working here with these wonderful kids, teachers, and staff. I live in Cedar Rapids with my fiancé and dog. I will be tying the knot this September!

MS Boys Track will turn in their equipment during 5th block TOMORROW, May 18 in Coach Telgenhoff’s room. 8th graders planning on playing basketball, please attend the basketball meeting first and then after the meeting, turn in your uniforms.
Basketball Meetings:
● 8th grade boys interested in playing basketball will meet during 5th block TOMORROW, May 18 in Coach Zittergruen's room.
● 7th grade boys interested in playing basketball will meet during 5th block on Friday, May 19 in Coach Zittergruen's room.
● Boys in grades 9 - 11 will meet in Mr. Voss' room on Tuesday, May 23rd during 5th block for a short organizational meeting.
Students in 8th -11th grade: Auditions for the fall musical, "Once Upon a Mattress," will be held in the auditorium today, May 17 from 3:45-5:30 and tomorrow, May 18 from 5:30-7 pm. If neither of these times will work for you, please contact Ms. Knaack.
I am finishing up my 26th year here at Benton Community. I direct the middle school concert and jazz bands, assist with the high school bands, and direct the two show choir bands. I live in North Liberty with my husband, Patrick and sons, Thomas and Ethan who attend Benton Community. In my free time you’ll find me cheering on my boys at football and baseball games or attending Iowa sporting events.

Benton and Belle Plaine open their baseball seasons

Benton had five hits. Jordan Thys was 1 for 1. Evan Daugherty was 1 for 2. Lane Kaestner was 1 for 4 and had one RBI. Wyatt Rinderknecht was 1 for 2, with one RBI. Ryan Finn was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Blake Daugherty was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Benton had seven strikeouts. They also had seven stolen bases, led by Rinderknecht with two. With one each were Jordan Thys, Evan Daugherty, Easton Patterson, Blake Daugherty and Dawson Rozek. The team had two errors. Jordan Thys started and picked up the win, throwing for five innings, allowing three hits, no runs, walking one and striking out six. Drew Fillenworth threw for two innings, allowed no hits, walked one and struck out two.
Benton travels to Union on Wednesday, May 17, hosts Linn-Mar on Thursday, May 18, and hosts Marshalltown on Friday, May 19.


MS Cross Country Meeting: On Tuesday, May 23 there will be a meeting for all boys and girls in grades 7th and 8th interested in running cross country next fall. The meeting will be in Mr. Zittergruen’s room during Block 5. If you can’t attend contact Coach Thomae during the day on Tuesday in Room 213.
