School Bond Vote - March 7! Information For the bond referendum on March 7, there are two questions on the ballot: Question one describes the planned projects. Question two explains how the projects will be funded. Voters who support the bond referendum must vote "yes" on each question. If a voter marks "yes" on one question and "no" on the other question, this is essentially a “no” vote. The school district is required to have two “yes” selections for voter approval of the bond referendum.

Hi, my name is Robyn Cherveny. I have been teaching for fifteen years. This is my tenth year at Benton and all of those years have been spent teaching at Atkins Elementary. I have taught kindergarten for nine years and this is my first year venturing up to second grade! A few facts about me: I have a son who is five and attends AK in Atkins, and my family lives on our century+ farm outside of Van Horne where we farm corn and soybeans. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, being outdoors, and attending my son’s activities. I am very passionate about health and fitness, and the farm life! Benton Community is a wonderful place to live. I am grateful to work in an environment with amazing staff, families, and students in a place where everyone feels like they belong. Go Bobcats!!

Benton Community & Central Lutheran are canceled today, Thursday, February 23. Many county roads are slick and gravel roads are ice covered, causing unsafe conditions for the safety of our buses, students, and staff.

Courtesy of Jim Magdefrau Class 3A Regional at Van Horne Benton (21-3 53, West Liberty (17-7) 44 Jenna Twedt led Benton with 33 points, with 5 of 8 shooting for three-poiners. Zoey Junge had nine rebounds. Emma Townsley had four assists. Twedt had four steals. Piper Nelson had two blocks. Coach Jeff Zittergruen said, "Very excited and proud of our team for being able to earn a trip back to Des Moines this year! Our girls did an outstanding job of executing the defensive game plan and kept West Liberty frustrated for most of the night. Jenna Twedt had a very efficient game scoring the basketball and we got key shots at different points in the game from Emma Townsley, McKenna Kramer, Piper Nelson and Zoey Junge. One of the biggest factors in the game was our ability to rebound the ball. Addison Phillips, Piper and Zoey all did a fantastic job on the glass to keep them to one shot and provide second chance opportunities for us on offense. We are excited to get the opportunity to keep playing basketball and will take the next week to prepare for state. The energy from our fans last night was outstanding and we hope to carry that with us to Des Moines next Monday!" Statistics are coming for West Liberty.
