Benton Community & Central Lutheran will be CLOSED on Wednesday, January 10th.

"I was born and raised in Benton Community and now I have the privilege and pleasure to teach here. Many parts of my childhood, and now adulthood, that I treasure most are tied to this community and the people in it. I will never forget the community traditions like Homecoming and Veteran’s Day, nor the teachers, family friends, and community members who went out of their way to give me opportunities, experiences, and support that I may not have experienced if I had grown up anywhere else. We have a community culture here that is unmatched. I am grateful for that and I hope to pay it forward in my own way.
You ask me what the best part of being a Bobcat is.
My answer will be: The people. Every time."

"My favorite parts of being a Bobcat are the students and athletes I get to work with each day as well as my great coworkers."

The Benton Community Girls and Boys Basketball programs will be hosting Vinton-Shellsburg on Tuesday, January 30th for our Coaches vs. Cancer night. As a part of this night, we will be doing an apparel store through Elite Sports. The online store is now open and will be closing on January 11th. All items will be delivered to the high school on Friday, January 26th.

Why Benton? "I originally came to Benton because my wife had just gotten a job at Rockwell Collins and I needed to work somewhere near Cedar Rapids so we both would have a short commute. I've stayed at Benton for the last 26 years because from day one I've met, and gotten to work with, so many amazing people. And, it was a great school for our kids to attend. I've been very fortunate to work here and call myself a Bobcat."

School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, January 3.

Why did you choose to work at Benton? "Choosing to work in the school district I graduated from is important to me. It's coming full circle, and now having my children go to school here too just makes it feel like home. It's not just a job; it's about being part of the place that shaped me and now gets to be a part of my family's story too."
