There is still time to apply for a job shadow! Students in grades 10-12 are HIGHLY encouraged to participate in a job shadow. Already this year, almost 30 Benton students have gotten the opportunity to learn more about a career area of interest. Some of the businesses/organizations that have supported this by accepting students are Frontier Co-op, Virginia Gay Hospital, Keystone Communications, RE/MAX Concepts - Lisa Nolan, Kinze Manufacturing, Mount Mercy University, Theatre Cedar Rapids, University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and more!
Reach out to Mr. Cretin with any additional questions. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!

Kasey shares, "This will be my third year teaching at Benton Community. My favorite thing about being a Bobcat is seeing the students each day. I teach 10th Grade English and 10th Grade Honors English. I also teach Composition I and II for the concurrent enrollment classes. I am the advisor for the D&D club as well. I am blessed to have the opportunity to teach the students of this district and I am thankful for all the students I have taught."

There will be a Post-Secondary and Community Service Resource Fair at the MS/HS on Wednesday, November 15th. Please see the flyer for details on the organizations that will be present to share information and answer questions. This is for all!

School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, November 8.

Why Benton? "I chose Benton Community because of the family feel when I got here 25 years ago. The willingness for staff to help was second to none. It is this togetherness that builds a community and makes it a place to belong."

Board elections take place today, Tuesday, November 7th. Scan the QR code below to find your polling location.

A favorite Benton tradition honoring all Veterans is this Friday, November 10th at 9:30 a.m.

My name is Cynda Mehlert and I am in my 13th year of teaching. I am a Special Education Teacher at Atkins Elementary but have taught in multiple buildings and grade levels throughout my 10 years here at Benton Community. My favorite part about being a Bobcat is that I am able to consistently teach in inclusive environments and classrooms that promote acceptance among all students.

Benton Community Girls Wrestling... these girls are working extremely hard and learning so much!! Bobcat Pride!!:)

Students in Norway recently got the opportunity to spend their "Bobcat Bucks" and shop at the school store. PBIS promotes positive behaviors in a number of ways. These students could name ways they were SAFE, RESPONSIBLE, RESPECTFUL, and CARING in order to earn their bucks.

Any day is a great day to sit down with a good book, but the weather turning colder makes it even sweeter. This Bobcat was excited to be able to read this book she recently checked out.

Tomorrow is the day we set those clocks back 1 hour.

Stella and Mrs. Nesbitt toured the elementary centers at different points this week. A few pictures from Stella's visit to Atkins Elementary are below. She is a celebrity wherever she goes!

All elements of the Bobcat Wheel were in action during professional learning on Wednesday afternoon. Staff spent time celebrating the strengths they saw when visiting each other's classrooms.

10th-12th grade STUDENTS & PARENTS: Check out this great opportunity for students to explore a career of interest. Benton students in these grades are highly encouraged to participate in this opportunity. We have had over 30 students participate in job shadows already this school year! Reach out to Mr. Cretin with any questions or check out the link below. https://www.kirkwood.edu/workplace-learning-connection/index

Norway students Michalih Coronado and Jaxon Plummer have artwork on display at the Norway Public Library. Make sure to check out Benton student artwork when out and about in the community!

Benton Community buildings are all focused on GRATITUDE as a word and skill area of study this month. Dr. Bieschke and Mrs. Selk traveled the district this morning to provide staff with a sweet treat and share words of appreciation and gratitude. We are so grateful to have such a dedicated group of individuals supporting students throughout the district in a variety of roles.
