A group of Benton Community students recently attended a Career Fair highlighting employment opportunities in the trades as well as apprenticeships. We heard from individual employers in areas such as construction, plumbing and pipefitting, insultation, roofing, electricians, and heavy equipment operators. The opportunities for our young people are diverse and students do not have to have prior experience in these areas in order to be successful. We heard repeatedly that the most important skill set for future employees is to show up consistently (attendance matters!) and to work hard. These are highly valued traits for all employees, and we know that Benton Community students can exhibit these characteristics! If you or your student have questions about contacts in these areas, then please let Mr. Cretin (High School Counselor) know at acretin@benton.k12.ia.us.

Congratulations, Ashton! Ashton Lundin (7th) received a perfect score of 50 in Archery today. Mr. Kauder, PE teacher, shared that Ashton is the 2nd ever perfect score of 50 for Archery since we started teaching with this equipment back in 2013. That is out of MS and HS combined! Only other one was Olivia Wilson.
