Even at a young age, it is important for students to learn how to navigate life independently. In the special education setting at Keystone Elementary, we don’t just practice academic goals such as reading, writing or math but we practice all the life skills it takes to be able to do this. We practice this by going over their daily schedules, talking situations through if something were to change, cause and effect learning, life skills, and adapting materials to best match where each student is at.
