Do you want to be a paleontologist?  Third grade students at Atkins Elementary worked as paleontologists to study bones of animals native to Iowa with the Benton County Naturalist.  Students drew and measured bones of animals. After drawing and measuring the bones, the students were given the task of recreating the skeleton of the animal in their group. When students were finished recreating the skeleton, they were then asked questions to try and figure out what animal their bones were part of.  The students used their deductive reasoning to make a reasonable guess.  Many students enjoyed the activity and decided paleontology might be the career for them!
