In my first 3 months as a public school teacher, I have been privileged to learn many things from the creative, wise, and enthusiastic students at Norway. In 4th grade, we’ve been working on the math components of music. We played with making superhero names into rhythms by clapping the syllables and then playing them on percussion instruments.  In 5th grade, we worked on community collaboration, respect, and teamwork through drum circles. And in 6th grade, we created body percussion performances. One group included a push-up in their body percussion - it was epic.
