During the first semester of the 2021-22 school year, a cross-section team of teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators was created to begin the process of reviewing our current literacy curriculum.  The current reality was that our staff was using a curriculum that was adopted for use during the 2013-14 school year.  There was staff selected from all three elementary schools and each grade level was represented.  It was quickly confirmed that we needed to upgrade our literacy materials. The team started reviewing a selection of popular curriculums being used within other districts.  Through multiple meetings to review samples and spend time collaborating as a team, the curriculum was narrowed down to two possible selections.

Additional time was spent combing through the materials and conversing with building-level teams and teachers from other districts using the curriculum. The team made a nomination for the board of directors to adopt a new curriculum.  On one of the final days of the 21-22 school year, classroom teachers ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade met to begin the training process on our new curriculum.
