As we finish another year it is definitely time to reflect on everything from a so-called “normal” school year. Our students had many opportunities to collaborate and engage in activities that they have not had the opportunity to engage in for the past few years. We saw some amazing academic growth well beyond our expectations. Students built some lasting friendships inside and outside of their own classroom.

Along with all of the positives, there are always things that are both positive and cause sadness. We always say that our students here at Atkins Elementary are lucky to have such a caring and dedicated group of people who support the needs of all students. Unfortunately for us, we are losing some of the most caring and dedicated teachers that I have had the opportunity to work with. As I see all of the sad faces, whether students, parents, or colleagues, it is hard to imagine coming to work without having their smiling faces. As I reflect on many of the great things that these teachers have accomplished the one thing that stands out to me is how that dedication, caringness, and strive to push students to achieve their best has continued up until the last day. I can not tell you how appreciative I am for being that model for all students, staff, and parents. Truly some of the best.
