This year has been a breath of fresh year for the band program, following the weirdness that the 2020-2021 school year brought via COVID. This year we got in a full competitive marching band season in which the Marching Bobcats finished in 2nd place and won Outstanding Drum Majors, Drumline, Colorguard and the fan appreciation award. We then got a 6th place finish at Linn-Mar and 5th place at both Cedar Rapids Prairie and 5 Seasons on October 2nd. We finished the season with a Division I rating at State Marching Band and a 3rd place finish at the Muscatine Marching Invitational on October 9th.

The band then transitioned to concert band and jazz band for the remainder of the school year. The concert band has really enjoyed all our performances this year, especially Festival of Bands, which is when all the 5-12 bands get together for one big night of concerts. It was so great to see all the parents in the stands supporting band in our schools. The Concert Bands’ last official performance is on May 6th at Mount Vernon High School, starting at 5:20pm. The Jazz band has been swingin’ hard all year long, performing at multiple competitions / clinics and has one final performance left at Spring JAVA. Which is on May 11th in the high school auditorium at 7pm. Hope to see you there!
