Middle School physical education is started archery this week.  It is an ancient sport and discipline that is growing rapidly and popular with millions.  It is a life skill that everyone can enjoy and is safer the almost every sport.  The classes started with making sure they know what their dominant eye is.  They will then make a bowstring and practice the eleven steps to archery success which works on proper shooting technique and form.  Students learn proper range setup and what the different lines are and what they are used are for.  Students will get to shoot from 2 different distances starting at 7yards and then moving back to 12 yards.  Mr. Kauder even has a starburst/skittles challenge day where the students can win a pack of starbursts or skittles if they put 1 arrow in each of the 5 colors on the target.  It really makes them focus on their shooting skills.

8th-grade health class learned about the dangers of drinking last week.  They had a day where Officer Brandt came in and gave a presentation and talked to them about the dangers of drinking as well.  He then put them through some of the field sobriety tests that Officers perform during a traffic stop if someone is possibly driving under the influence.
