June 2023 Benton Community Spanish students will have the opportunity to travel abroad to Spain for 10 days. Students will be able to immerse themselves in the culture, visit historic sights, and practice using their Spanish language skills.

Throughout the 10 days in Spain, trip-goers will visit seven major cities and numerous famous landmarks. Students will start their trip abroad in the city of Madrid, Spain. In Madrid, students take part in a tour and stop at famous landmarks such as El Prado Museum and El Palacio Real. After leaving Madrid, students will transfer to their homestays in the City of Segovia and go on a walking tour of the city stopping at the world-famous Roman aqueducts and The Alcazar Roman fortress. The rest of the trip is spent touring Toledo, Barcelona, and spending a day at the beach in Costa Brava.

Spanish teacher Justin Liddle works with Interact travel to give students an opportunity of a lifetime. “Leading a trip to Spain is an incredible experience. It’s one of my favorite parts of being a teacher. Watching students interact with the Spanish culture and language is something that can’t be replicated in the classroom.”

Students will spend three nights with a host family and truly be able to experience the Spanish culture firsthand as well as converse in Spanish. Homestays take place in the small city of Segovia, Spain. Students stay with a partner of their choice in the home of a middle-class Spanish family. The homestay is an opportunity to try traditional foods, participate in the true Spanish lifestyle, and immerse themselves in speaking Spanish.
