Every year, there is a special week set aside to show teachers extra appreciation. Student Council was very busy coordinating a variety of activities and treats for May 4th-8th at Benton Middle and High School. On Monday, teachers were provided with delicious s’mores treats. On Tuesday, they had sliced apples with a variety of toppings. Wednesday was the big teacher raffle where teachers’ names were drawn and they could pick from a variety of prizes. These prizes were donated by very generous and supportive local businesses. On Thursday, the FCCLA club delivered cookies to each staff member. On Friday, teachers were able to enjoy brunch items to start their day.

When asked what her favorite part about Teacher Appreciation Week was, Heather Mayrose replied, “My favorite part of Teacher Appreciation Week, without a doubt, is reading the notes from students. I've shed tears, laughed, and felt rejuvenated reading them. My bottom desk drawer is full of notes from years' past. Every now and then, I re-read them, and it fills my cup all over again.” The week before, students wrote meaningful notes of thanks to their teachers. Students, parents, and local businesses all showed extra appreciation throughout the week.
