The Benton Community Girls Wrestling team earned academic all-state team honors during the 2025-2026 season by the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association. To qualify for consideration for academic all-state the team’s cumulative grade point average must be 3.25 or higher. Recipients of this reward are Aubrey Krueger, Victory Dursky, Maria Davis, Paige Eastman, Makinzee Petre-King, Madi Kenny, Adelyn McDonald, Willow Sexton, Marissa Nolte, Izzy Schoettmer, Layna DeMoss, Lizzy Wolf, Jordan Koehler, Lily Colburn, and Kayla Chung. Additionally, Demoss and Wolf earned individual academic all-state honors. Juniors and seniors that are state qualifiers and have a cumulative grade point average above 3.75 are eligible for individual all-state consideration.
The AAU State Tournament was held March 7-8th in Cedar Rapids at the Alliant Powerhouse. The girls’ tournament is open to girls third through twelfth grades. (Kindergarten through second grade have their own separate tournament.) Benton was well represented with seven wrestlers bringing home medals. Medal winners were (from youngest to oldest) Rhya Wilfang (3rd at 110 lbs), Adilyn Schrader (5th at 59 lbs), Claire Eastman (5th at 82 lbs), Alannah Reynolds (7th at 126 lbs), Elliot Nelson (6th at 138 lbs), Niley Hoeck (1st at 135 lbs), and Lizzy Wolf (1st at 157 lbs). Hoeck and Wolf qualified to represent Iowa in a dual tournament this summer down in Florida.
