Each day, I get to meet with students during lunch in small groups. It has been a great way to build relationships with all students, and have some extra time to focus on different SEL topics. Currently, we are talking through what bullying is and how to solve conflicts. Here is an example of what all the grades will learn about next:
- Kindergarten: Personal space
- 1st grade: How to not be bossy
- 2nd grade: How to be a leader
- 3rd grade: Persevering through hard tasks
Throughout the school year, all students get to meet with me in these groups about once a month. It is a time I always look forward to in my day, and I think the students do too! I am thankful to be part of a district that supports and prioritizes time like this for all students to have.
