Fifth graders in literacy have been working hard on producing clear and coherent writing. Students are learning how to organize their ideas so their writing matches the task, purpose, and audience. Students were given the opportunity to create a Survival Guide poster to present to their peers. They received multiple prompts to choose from to help the planning process. They carefully researched, planned their writing, and organized their ideas into clear sections. Each student then presented their poster to their peers, practicing strong speaking skills and explaining their thinking clearly. Their peers also got to ask clarifying questions in order to help the group better understand. After the presentation, the audience was able to give positive feedback regarding their presentation or poster.
