National History Day (NHD) is a year-long academic program and competition that encourages students to explore historical topics in depth. This year, 7 8th Grade students have chosen to participate and have chosen a topic connected to the yearly theme of “Revolution, Reaction and Reform.” They will present their work in either paper, documentary, and performance. Projects advance through local and state contests, with top entries qualifying for the national competition held each June at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Last week the participants went to the University of Iowa’s main library to visit with a staff research librarian and get access to the university's collections of resources. They are in the final stages of preparation before the regional contest on March 13th.
