Each month at Keystone Elementary, our two kindergarten classes come together for Kinderbration, a one-hour celebration filled with planned activities. These activities have been carefully planned and are connected to reading, math, science, and our Character Strong curriculum. This special time allows the kindergarteners to socialize, explore and enjoy new experiences in a collaborative learning space. Mrs. Wright and I work together each month to plan the event, focused on including a read-aloud, building station, coloring station, STEM activity, food, and a short video. Kinderbration has become a favorite tradition amongst the kids that supports learning while building positive relationships and excitement for school.

January’s celebration was centered around the book Sneezy the Snowman. After hearing the book, students rotated through winter-themed activities. They made snowflakes using coffee filters, and used perseverance to build snowflakes or igloos with marshmallows and toothpicks. As part of our science motions unit, students explored push and collisions with small and large dominoes. The celebration wrapped up with the homemade ice cream we made and a viewing of Frosty the Snowman.

We look forward to seeing what fun and learning February’s Kinderbration will bring!
