Benton Community Middle/High School is proud to celebrate 8 years as a Unified Champion School. Over the years, students have taken part in all kinds of inclusive activities—Lunch Buddies, Unified PE, Respect Week, and more.
This year brought something extra special. We were finally able to start our very own Special Olympics Bowling Team—a goal of mine for the past 20 years. The amount of support from staff, families, and students has meant so much.
The team practiced on Saturday mornings at Turner Hall as they got ready for their first competition on October 9, 2025, at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center. Six student-athletes represented Benton Community—and they all qualified for the Special Olympics State Bowling Tournament. On November 22, our bowlers returned to Cedar Rapids for the State Tournament, where all six brought home Gold Medals.
We are so proud of these amazing athletes and grateful to everyone who helped make this dream finally come to life.
