One of my favorite parts of my day is when I get to teach shared reading.  During this time, we get to experience books in an interactive, fun way.  This is an opportunity for my students to connect with text, learn new vocabulary words and use his/her communication skills. The use of visuals provided by our wonderful speech pathologist, Nicole Williamson, gives our students the tools they need to communicate his/her thoughts about the text. After we read a selection my students also work on his/her writing skills by forming a sentence that connects with the text.  It always brings me joy when I see my students use all the skills they work on in shared reading in other content areas and most importantly they have found a love of reading.
