From November 10th through November 21st the Norway Student Council and Girl Scouts Junior Troop 3697 teamed up to host a food and supply drive benefitting the Atkins Helping Hands Food Pantry. These groups challenged the classes at Norway with a friendly competition of which class could collect the most items to donate. We were blown away by the support of our Norway families. After the final tally, Norway students along with the help of their families collected an outstanding total of 2,264 food and personal hygiene items for the pantry.
On November 24th members of both groups loaded their collected items into a trailer and were bussed to the Atkins Helping Hands food pantry to deliver their items and help stock shelves for those in need.
The timing of this service project lined up perfectly with the Thanksgiving holiday and we were grateful for the support and proud of the impact that these kids were able to make on their local community. This was a very humbling experience for all involved and I hope we can make this an annual tradition for years to come.
