One of the areas of focus in our curriculum at Benton Community is social emotional learning. The past few years we have been using a program called Character Strong. This curriculum focuses on a new word each month. For example, we have been focused on kindness and respect as we begin the school year. Our goal is to help develop each student’s ability to regulate their emotions, build positive relationships, and be responsible decision makers. The Character Strong curriculum also aligns nicely with our district’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) program. The two work hand in hand with each other to help assist our students as they prepare for the future.
