Students in 5th grade literacy class are learning how to use questioning when reading. Students were given the chance to read various picture books with a group and write questions for the books. The questions are either what we deemed thick questions or thin questions. Thick questions are harder to find, need evidence or clues to support, use inferences or draw conclusions about what is being read. Thin questions are right there questions which are easy to answer and found right in the story. Students wrote their questions on post-it notes and put them on a T-chart for us to discuss as a class.
