Benton Community School District students and staff will return to some updated facilities this fall thanks to several improvement projects completed over the summer months.
A major focus has been on enhancing school security. Secured front entry upgrades were made at Keystone Elementary, Norway Intermediate, and the Middle/High School. While supply chain delays impacted the delivery of some permanent materials, temporary security structures are currently in place, with the final installations expected by October.
If you are a visitor to the MS/HS during the school day (8:15 am-3:20 pm), please know that the main entrance has been changed to Entrance #2.
At Keystone Elementary, a section of the school’s roof was also replaced after reaching its life expectancy. Both the roofing and secured entry projects were made possible through the VPPEL (Voter-Approved Physical Plant and Equipment Levy) funds, generously supported by district patrons.
Additionally, the district utilized revenue from the statewide 1-cent sales tax to complete other key projects. The Atkins Elementary playground received a full replacement, providing students with a safe and modern play space. The district’s softball field also underwent significant renovations to better serve student-athletes and the community.
These projects not only improve the safety of our schools but also enhance the experiences of our students both in the classroom and on the field. We’re grateful to our patrons for making these updates possible.
