March 7 Bond Vote for Benton Community
Did you know that our Middle and High School Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition Systems are nearing the end of their useful service life, or in some cases, up to 20 years past their expected life? Part of the General Obligation Bond up for vote next Tuesday, March 7 is dedicated to much-needed HVAC, electrical, and safety renovations. These systems will need to be replaced beginning in 2024 to keep our buildings functional and avoid escalating operating costs.
If the bond issue fails, the District may need to divert our current revenue that we receive from the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) that we use for purchasing buses, technology, and other break/fix items and instead, direct those funds towards these replacements.
