Why Benton? "I originally came to Benton because my wife had just gotten a job at Rockwell Collins and I needed to work somewhere near Cedar Rapids so we both would have a short commute. I've stayed at Benton for the last 26 years because from day one I've met, and gotten to work with, so many amazing people. And, it was a great school for our kids to attend. I've been very fortunate to work here and call myself a Bobcat."

Benton Community School District wishes you a wonderful Holiday Season! #BeABobcat #APlaceToBelong

Why Benton? "Honestly, there was no other option in my mind. Growing up in Benton and going to school here is what made me the person I am today. The amount of support that is received from coworkers, community members, and students is unmatched. Benton always has and always will be home for me."

Collins Aerospace engineer, Dalton Jacobs, spends an hour every Tuesday afternoon with 6th grade ELO (Extended Learning Opportunities) students building scale models of futuristic, fully-sustainable homes. The end products, along with a research-based essay, will be entered into the Build Iowa's Future Design contest in April.

"My favorite part of being a Bobcat is how close-knit the community is. Every adult working for this district is always rooting for each individual student and is focused on their individual success!"

School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, December 6.

We want to remind our students and families of the importance of regular school attendance. When students miss school, they miss important instructional time that can’t be replaced. In fact, missing 10% or more of the school year (18+ days a year) can put students at risk of academic failure. Research shows they are less likely to read proficiently and graduate from high school. For our students to succeed, they need to be at school. Help your student get to school every day so that they can stay engaged, successful, and on track to graduate.
If you need support with your student’s attendance, please reach out to the school.
