Benton Middle School honored 129 students who earned a 3.5 GPA or higher in the first semester of the 2023-24 school year. Congratulations, Bobcats!

Benton basketball teams face Vinton-Shellsburg -Courtesy of Jim Magdefrau- Benton girls' basketball Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at Van Horne No. 8 Benton 56, Vinton-Shellsburg 23 Benton Community was 20 of 50 for field goals, 7 of 20 for three-poingers and 9 of 15 for free throws. They had 38 rebounds, 13 assists, four steals, six blocks, seven turnovers and eight fouls. Emma Townsley had 14 points for Benton. With 12 each were McKenna Kramer and Zoey Junge. With three assists each were Kramer and Sophia Seeck. Junge had two steals. Piper Nelson had two blocks. Benton travels to Grinnell on Friday, Feb. 2, with the game starting at 6 p.m., followed by the boys' game. Next week Benton travels to West Liberty for another boys/girls doubleheader.
