NEW HOMESTEAD PROPERTY TAX CREDIT FOR BENTON COUNTY RESIDENTS 65 YEARS AND OLDER - APPLICATION DUE JULY 1, 2023 !!!
From the Benton Co. Assessor:
As you may have heard from the local news, on Facebook or through word of mouth, new legislation was passed to allow property owners, 65 years or older, to apply for an exemption along with their Homestead credit. Our office has seen a good volume of traffic come in to sign up but we want to make sure those who are qualified are made aware of this new exemption. The deadline to qualify for the 2023 exemption, for taxes payable 2024-2025, is July 1st so we are on short time to try to reach everyone we can.
Please review the attached flyer and spread the news to your family, friends, neighbors and/or constituents. I am also attaching the Homestead Credit and Exemption Application for you to print out if anyone requests one. There are other ways to access the application electronically, through our website on the “links and forms” page or through a property search on Beacon (fillable form hyperlink located at the bottom of the results page).
If there’s any questions, feel free to contact our office. Thank you for your time!

I get the unbelievable honor of serving as the High School Principal at Benton Community for the last 3 years. It has been the honor of my life to be able to serve the families at Benton for the last 15 years in the classroom and as an administrator in various roles. In my non-school time, I enjoy working in my yard, attending Iowa State Football Games, and spending time with my family.
