Benton was 19 of 66 for field goals, 9 of 42 for three-pointers and 11 of 14 for free throws. The team had 37 rebounds, 13 assists, 20 steals, two blocks, 13 turnovers and 13 fouls. McKenna Kramer led Benton with 17 points. Emma Townsly added 15 points. Hannah Greiner had eight rebounds and three assists. Townsley had seven steals. Aubrey Kelly added five steals. Piper Nelson had two blocks.

On Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, Benton hosts a boy/girl doubleheader against Grinnell. The girls play at 6:30 p.m. Benton travels to Vinton-Shellsburg on Thursday, Jan. 18, for another boy/girl doubleheader. The girls play at 6:10 p.m. On Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, Benton travels to South Tama for a boy/girl doubleheader. The girls play at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, No. 8 Benton hosts No. 4 Waverly-Shell Rock at 3:30 p.m.







Benton Community & Central Lutheran will have a 2 hour delay on Tuesday, January 16, and run on hard surface routes only. On a late start, there are no morning activities, no breakfast is served, and the preschool times for both AM and PM sessions are adjusted. Due to extreme cold temperatures and road closures, there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 15th. The MS/HS will extend the first semester through Wednesday and the second semester will begin on Thursday. Thanks for your understanding as we continue to navigate the weather this winter.


Benton Community and Central Lutheran will be closed on Friday, January 12th. There will be no activities.
With the cancellation of the last three days of school and another cancellation tomorrow, the district plans to use one of our snow makeup days on Monday, January 15th as a regular school day with students in attendance. Monday was originally scheduled to be a professional development day for staff and a no-school day for students. This day is listed on our official school calendar as a potential school makeup day, if needed.
As we continue to monitor the weather and potential closures into next week, please know that our decisions are based on the safety of our students and staff. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these winter weather situations.

Emma Townsley had 165 points for Benton. Piper Nelson had nine rebounds. Zoey Junge added eight. Townsley had three assists. Aubrey Kelly had three steals. Junge had two blocks.
