I chose to work at Benton Community in 1997 as a Business teacher at the MS/HS. It was my first teaching job out of college and I couldn’t have been happier. I was so fortunate to have fabulous mentors who helped guide me as a new teacher. I was also blessed that Benton provided me with a philosophical foundation of what it means to be a teacher. I left the district to pursue a head coaching position and instantly realized that not all schools were like Benton Community which I so naively thought. After a decade away from the district I received the honor of a lifetime through a phone call offering me the Benton High School Principal position from Mr. Zittergruen in 2007. Little did I know then that I would have another honor of a lifetime when I was offered the privilege of serving as the superintendent at Benton Community! My favorite thing about being a Bobcat is the ability to work side by side with students, staff, and a community that values education while also valuing the great people of this district. We have had a fabulous school year and accomplished so many positive outcomes. I look forward to next year and the improvements we can achieve working together as Bobcats! Come cheer on the Benton Bobcat Softball team tonight as they take on the Williamsburg Raiders! These two undefeated, top 5 ranked teams begin play at 5:30 at Zittergruen Field. All after school activities at Benton Community have been canceled for Tuesday, May 21. Buildings and grounds will be closed after school. We will not be dismissing school early. Stay safe!

Coming this Fall: Bobcat Basketball Club. Open to Boys and Girls in 1st- 6th grades in Benton and surrounding districts. Details will be coming later this summer.

At the School Board meeting last night, Tracie Kimm was recognized for her years of service to Benton Community as an elementary teacher and her upcoming retirement. We wish Tracie many years of enjoyment in retirement.

"Choosing to work at Benton Community was an easy decision. It was an extremely short commute, the hours were great, and my children would attend there. I stayed because of the community that is so engaged, concerned and entwined with each other they become like family."

"My favorite thing about being a Benton Bobcat is the community pride shown throughout the District. Pride in our school begins with our littlest learners as they learn respect, responsibility, kindness, and safety from our class mascot, Benny (a bobcat puppet)! "Being a Bobcat" is something we take seriously, and I am honored to be a part instilling that pride!"
