Keystone Elementary special education students will be attending Camp Courageous in April. Camp Courageous is a nonprofit organization that provides year-round recreational and respite opportunities for individuals with special needs and their families. This camp is run mostly on donations. People have the opportunity to donate their time, talents, money, materials, or a number of other ways that would support the camp. The vision at Camp Courageous is to inspire a world where individuals with special needs are empowered with courage, to look beyond their current capacities and explore the world with confidence.

This will be the second time Keystone Elementary has attended camp this school year. Camp Courageous holds a holiday party in the late fall where the students participate in activities, dance, sing karaoke, and visit Santa.  To finish the experience, students eat at Pizza Ranch. The upcoming experience will look different. Students will engage in activities based on their individual preferences for this day-long adventure.

I love the opportunities that Camp Courageous brings to our students. This experience builds students’ self-confidence, communication skills, and provides teamwork and problem-solving opportunities. They learn valuable life skills and experience a lot of smiles! I am thankful that Benton Community lets us provide this opportunity to students and their families.
