Playdough is an important tool in kindergarten growth. It is utilized in many ways. It may look like play when walking into the classroom but it helps develop student fine motor skills. The rolling, stretching, pinching and picking up of the playdough strengthens student’s fingers which in turn helps with pencil grip, writing, and cutting. All of these skills will be used throughout their academic career. Playdough isn’t the only thing used to build fine motor skills but it is one which engages students and can be used in many ways to help make learning fun.
