This year with my kindergarten class we create monthly door decorations featuring our KT class family. I usually select a fun saying and the kids help bring it to life with their drawings and pictures. The kids became witches and wizards in October because, "Something Is Brewing in KT!" They were thankful turkeys in November. December I was feeding my reindeer the cookies they created, despite the sign saying not to. January featured the kids "sliding into the new year" on sleds. In February we decided the room was full of "sweet treats!" The kids struck fun poses while pretending to hold onto the sweet treat they were creating with paper and crayon. I think it's the best one yet!

Through these monthly activities, our classroom culture has grown. We're building our class family culture, the kids are able to create, and it's inviting for those coming into or walking by our classroom. Kids of all grade levels stop to look at our creations, and are often seen naming the friendly faces they know. And best of all, my students feel proud and excited to see themselves up on the door everyday they walk into our room. Benton CSD really is a place to belong.
