Red Ribbon Week starts tomorrow!
Wear PJ’s to school.

Our Preschool friends have been learning about what food comes from trees. This week we learned that syrup is made from the sap of trees. Today we celebrated our learning by eating maple syrup on pancakes!
Third grade students have created a safe habitat for their new ‘class pets’ - Crayfish! Over the next few weeks, students will observe and record structures and behaviors of the crayfish.

Pictures retakes are Thursday, October 28 for grades PK-6. If your student missed pictures in September, please plan on their pictures being taken on retake day. If your student had their picture taken the first time but are getting them retaken, make sure they return the picture package that they received.

Our 3rd graders are currently studying Structures of Life in science. Mrs. Keiper’s class dissected owl pellets, and are identifying bones to reconstruct the skeleton of the shrew.

Red Ribbon Week is coming up on October 25-29. Thank you to the Norway Student Council for choosing the themes and dress up days.

Our friends in 2T are identifying the character traits of Molly Lou Melon.
Students analyzed the read aloud and found evidence in pictures and text to prove the trait they wanted to share with the class.
It’s a great day to be a Bobcat!

Socktober is officially underway. Please bring items to school now through October 31st!

Foundational reading skills are being practiced in all content areas in our Preschool through 3rd grade classrooms.
Our Bobcats are excited for the opportunities to have all types of text to explore!

This is a great event for adults and children!

Winter Gear Drive: The Benton Dance Team is holding a Winter Gear Drive during the month of October. They are looking for donations of new or gently used hats, gloves, boots, snow pants, and coats (the greatest need is for items other than coats). All sizes (child and adult) are welcome. Please gather your donations or make a cash donation for items to be purchased by the team. Items can be brought to your child's school, and they will also be collecting at upcoming home football and volleyball games. Items will be distributed to students and community members throughout the district.
3rd Graders: If you are interested in youth bowling for 3rd through 8th grade at Keystone Turner Hall, please contact Melissa Lennie at 319.310.2843 to get signed up. Sessions start Saturday, October 16 at 10 am. It is a 6 week session.

Students at Benton Community are currently learning how to identify the main idea and supporting details in a text.
Our second graders are currently utilizing a Benchmark Literacy book to learn about whooping cranes. They were able to make connections with other text, real life connections, and hear what a whooping crane sounds like.

Another great Homecoming parade is in the books! 💙💛
