Mrs. Z is using fractions to teach Second Graders how Grant Wood painted the sky in his pieces. This allowed him to focus on the beautiful landscape Iowa offers.
Students also spent time analyzing paintings and creating inferences by distinguishing important details from his work.

100 items for 100 days of school was a HUGE success. Thank you to everyone who helped our students collect over 2,000 items. These items were donated to our local food bank.
Benton Community is seeking a dynamic Long Term Substitute High School Social Studies Teacher for the remainder of the 2021-2022 School Year. The assignment is focused on the following curricular areas: Government, Global Studies, and Modern America. Applicants will be expected to complete daily lesson planning, provide student feedback, and complete grading.

Teaching days 1-15 - $126.00/day
1/2 teaching day - $ 63.00
After fifteen (15) consecutive days in the same substitute teaching position, the substitute teacher will be placed on the salary schedule at the B.A. base salary on the first (1st) experience level. (FY’22 - $175.87/day.)

Second grade students are working in math groups using place value charts and the totals below strategy to solve addition problems in the hundreds.
Cooperative groups offer feedback, affirmation, and problem solving skills to all.
Mrs. Spading’s AK students are working on ways to make 8. Decomposing numbers in different ways allows students to think flexibly and see how 2 small groups equal a big group.

Kinder students are loving discovery centers! This gives students to opportunity to authentically practice fair ways to play, problem solving, cooperative play and learning, and so many other life-long skills.
Students across the district are working on creating inferences. When we create an inference, we use what we know along with clues from the pictures or text to figure out something the author didn’t tell us!
