My name is Cynda Mehlert and I am in my 12th year of teaching. I am a Special Education Teacher at Atkins Elementary but have taught in multiple buildings and grade levels throughout my 9 years at Benton Community. My husband Chad and I live in Atkins and have three kids, (Jaxson, Leigha, and Logan) who are students in the district. We spend most of our time watching our boys wrestle, camping with our friends and family, or cheering on the Hawkeyes!

Due to predicted inclement weather, there will be no morning activities or practices tomorrow, Thursday, February 9th.

National School Counseling Week is February 6-10, 2023. We want to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful School Counselors for all that they do!

We need your help! We have a long way to go to reach our goal of 1900 items. We are accepting items through Wednesday, February 8th. Please help us Fill The Pantry!

My name is Jena Heishman and I teach first grade at Atkins Elementary. This is my 11th year teaching. My husband and I were born and raised here and now I am proud to say my three kids also attend Benton Community. I enjoy spending time with family and supporting my kids in all of their hobbies and activities!

Fill the Pantry Drive: Our goal by Wednesday, February 8th is to collect 1900 items so our students can participate in a school-wide celebration. We are well on our way of reaching that goal! Please keep sending these needed items; deodorant, chapstick, razors, baby wipes, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap, pop tarts, ketchup, mustard, mayo, spaghetti sauce, canned food and boxed meals.

Third grade students used paint to create a winter night landscape with tints and shades. They showed they can mix colors with white or black to create lighter or darker colors. They painted hills and trees in the foreground covered in snow.

Tyler Maschino is currently the Technology Director at Benton Community Schools. He’s been employed at Benton for the past 24 years. When he first got here email was a big deal and data was stored on 1.44 inch floppy disks. Those disks wouldn’t have the space to store one photo taken with an iPhone today.

Kindergarten and Preschool Pre-Registration will be Monday, February 6, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at both Atkins Elementary & Keystone Elementary.
