Hi, my name is Abbie Patterson. This is my sixth year as a Benton Community paraeducator at Atkins Elementary. I am in my second year of the paraeducator-to-teacher grant apprenticeship program and am excited to start student teaching this spring at Atkins Elementary in second grade. I graduated from Benton, and my husband and I chose to raise our family here. My favorite thing about Benton is the pride that goes along with being a part of the school and community. Once a bobcat, always a bobcat!

Hi my name is April Lange. This is my 25th year teaching at Benton Community School District. I have spent 23 of those years in first grade. I also am an assistant track and field coach for the boys and girls. I attended Benton Community and my husband and I enjoy raising our four boys in the district.

"I chose Benton because it is so much more than a school district. It is a place to belong. The community support is always present and you become part of the Benton family."

We want to remind our students and families of the importance of regular school attendance. When students miss school, they miss important instructional time that can’t be replaced. In fact, missing 10% or more of the school year (18+ days a year) can put students at risk of academic failure. Research shows they are less likely to read proficiently and graduate from high school. For our students to succeed, they need to be at school. Help your student get to school every day so that they can stay engaged, successful, and on track to graduate.
If you need support with your student’s attendance, please reach out to the school.

"My favorite thing about being a Bobcat is that everyone is so welcoming of all people. I enjoy getting to start instilling that Bobcat pride into the youngest of the Bobcats and seeing them grow as teammates!"

School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, November 29.

"My favorite thing about being a Bobcat is the sense of community. I love how the community supports all students involved in sports and the arts. A couple of my favorite times are when we all come together to celebrate homecoming and Veteran's day! Parents and staff help out with fundraising and events or rally around other Bobcat families during difficult times. I know that as a Bobcat, I have a community around me and my family that cares and supports each other!"

School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. today, Monday, November 20.

The Benton Community Post-Secondary & Community Services Resource Fair was a great opportunity for students, families, and staff to engage with partners from the area about options and supports available to our students outside of our system. Many thanks for all who organized, attended, and shared resources!
