Resource students in grades 4-6 are currently working on the comprehension skills of retell and summarizing. These two skills promote in-depth understanding of what is being read and builds on the information the student has read.  In addition, students learn to connect the information they have read to real-life events or stories. When summarizing, students focus on describing the steps through which a story's conflict is resolved. They name and identify important characters and describe the major events of the story.

Retelling is recalling the events that happened in a story in order from the beginning, middle, to end. Students are currently learning and applying two visual strategies; Story Champs and SUMMARIZE (Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then).
