In science fourth grade students are learning about energy. The beginning of the unit talks about how energy is transferred. They were able to experiment by building roller coasters and their own chain reaction machine. The latest lesson talked about electricity. This lesson gave students the opportunity to build their own flashlights! They were given a battery, a LED light, tinfoil, an index card and tape to do this experiment. Students used their prior knowledge of how batteries work and new knowledge about circuits to become successful. They have really enjoyed these activities and I can’t wait to see what they do next!
