Student Council is off and running at Norway Intermediate! Each year, students have the opportunity to run for Student Council and take on a leadership role within our school. Students interested in running complete an application and collect signatures from two adults in the building who feel they would be a good candidate. Each candidate then prepares a short speech to share with their classmates, explaining why they would make a great class representative. After all the speeches are given, each class holds an election to select its representative. Student Council members meet one to two times each month to share ideas, make decisions, plan activities, and find ways to make a positive impact on our school.

Our Student Council members have a variety of responsibilities throughout the year. They help lead our school fundraiser, which this year is a candle fundraiser, and gather feedback from their peers to help make decisions about school celebrations, PBIS rewards, and other school activities. Students also participate in service projects that allow them to give back to our school and community. Through these experiences, students are building valuable leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Mrs. Bergert and I are so excited to work with such a wonderful group of positive, respectful, hardworking, and enthusiastic students this year. They have already shown a willingness to share their ideas, listen to others, and take on new responsibilities. We are excited to see all they accomplish and the positive difference they will make throughout the year. We are proud to have these students representing our school and look forward to watching them help make Norway Intermediate an even better place for all Bobcats!
