4th-grade science is all about hands-on experiences that bring textbook knowledge to life. From conducting experiments to observing natural phenomena, fourth graders engage in activities that foster curiosity and a love for discovery. In 4th grade, students typically cover various scientific topics, including:

●     Earth Science: Explore topics like weather patterns, ecosystems, and the water cycle.

●     Physical Science: Dive into the basics of matter, energy, and forces.

●     Life Science: Investigate the wonders of the living world, including ecosystems, plant and animal adaptations, and the life cycle of organisms.

Recently, students in Mrs. Braley’s class dove into The Human Machine unit, where students learn the different functions of the human body, specifically the brain, muscles, and eyes. Their guiding question for their latest lesson was, “Why do your biceps bulge?” Students created a robot finger made with paper, string, paper clips, and tape to discover how tendons ‘pull’ on muscles to make them move. This hands-on (no pun intended) learning opportunity was a fun and engaging way to understand how bodies move and function.
