Students in Career and Technical Math are preparing themselves for life after high school/apprenticeship/college by examining “real world” applications. In previous units students have explored career options, calculated out week/month/yearly net and gross pay, prepared a budget, compared home and auto loans, examined credit cards, and analyzed commercials.
Currently, students are simulating what it would/will be like to reside a house. Students will have to calculate square footage of their fictitious homes. Students will then have to choose between siding options. Finally, students will create an estimate of what the project will cost them between materials and labor.
