Brianna White, LISW. CCTP-II, CCATP, Tanager Place

Tanager works with school districts, including Benton, to have clinically licensed therapists and evidence-based treatment options available for students and staff members, offering support for mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges. For the past three years, I have had the privilege of being a school-based therapist within our district. The opportunity to be present in the building allows for increased access to services for students and the ability to collaborate with staff members including offering support, consultation, and sharing resources. Additionally, I can provide ongoing support to the district through advocacy, outreach, and connections with community resources.

Supporting mental health needs for students can help to reduce barriers to their success, increase personal well-being, support skill building, and promote healthy development into adulthood. Students, throughout their development, experience significant changes and feelings that they may not know how to handle. When overwhelming and unable to be processed, these experiences may present as behavioral, emotional, or social problems that decrease their ability to function normally (at home, school, or in the community). An assessment with a therapist can be an option, which would involve working with a family to review current needs and goals, exploring support options and resources, navigating any potential barriers to success, and collaboratively creating a plan that works best for the student/family.
