Miranda Sonka

Each month, two classrooms team up to collaborate on Character Strong projects. In February, Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Sonka’s classes focused on the character trait of honesty. Students defined honesty, reflected on its role in their lives, and created a project to display for the entire school.

Collaborating with another classroom fosters community development and allows students to share diverse perspectives. Both classes learned that honesty means being truthful in words and actions. Students practiced sharing ideas, offering suggestions, writing, and incorporated a bit of history.

Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Sonka connected the Character Strong unit to a history lesson on Abraham Lincoln and a writing unit. The collaboration process was filled with smiles and celebrations—a fun way to demonstrate character in action.
