Kindness is like sprinkles on ice cream—it makes life brighter and sweeter. Just like you don’t need a whole bucket of sprinkles to make ice cream special, small acts of kindness make a big difference. Smiling at a classmate, holding the door, or saying “thank you” are simple ways to add sprinkles of kindness each day. Each sprinkle helps our classrooms and hallways feel more welcoming and joyful.

Students at Atkins Elementary School spent the second week of school learning about how to sprinkle kindness and why it is so important to do so. The Character Strong Social Emotional Learning curriculum teaches us that kindness is more than a word—it’s a habit we can practice through empathy, respect, and service. When we are responsible, honest, or show perseverance, we’re sprinkling kindness too. Every action, no matter how small, adds up to create a school community where everyone feels valued and cared for—just like the best ice cream sundae topped with sprinkles.

Atkins Elementary teachers worked together to create this display for students and families to view at Back to School Conferences. It includes practical ways for anyone to sprinkle kindness.
