When you walk into Ms. Bolar’s Kindergarten classroom all the students will tell you about their Desk Pets. So you may be wondering, what is a desk pet? They are a friend, learner, and most of all a companion.
At the beginning of the year students will adopt their Desk Pet and sign a contract to follow the Desk Pet Classroom Rules. They always get a chuckle out of Rule #6: Don’t put the Desk Pet in your mouth!
Once the students have named and adopted their Desk Pet, they get to keep them for the rest of the year. As students show their Bobcat Character (respect, responsible, safe, and kind) they earn stars on their chart. Once their chart is full they get to pick a friend or food for their Desk Pet.
